Can an architectural particular inspire the creation of a logo? Sure! It comes sometimes in unexpected ways. I was looking for inspiration for the logo of an interior design studio, when I was interrupted by a phone call. It was my mother. After being told some news (she lives in Italy while I live now in Zurich), we inevitably drifted in empty talk. Suddenly, listening and no, answering in monosyllables as I was lobotomized, my mind automatically set to the function “off hearing – lost in thought active”. I began to wander in the memories of my early life in Italy and… The small porch! Of course! The whole series of segmental arches of characteristic Ligurian taste from the 60s. A bow is the letter “n”, another one mirrors itself on the water like I do after a day of rain, another letter contrast with the window of the shop… That’s it! The lettering proceeds and logo takes shape.
Based on the trend of the warm colors in vogue in the area where I live, the choice of colors could not fall on anything but them. Totally different from those of the small porch, but suitable for a study of interior design.
The inspiration often takes from other pieces of design. Well this is it: the creation of architects and designers Gardella and Magistretti. Better than that?
